Last night we ate at one of my favorite restaurants, Ristorante Fieni’s. When you enter the small BYOB restaurant and are seated in one of several cozy rooms, you feel like a guest in someone’s home. The most heavenly aromas of simmering sauce, garlic and seafood drift from the nearby kitchen, as servers attentively treat you like favorite members of their family.
During this visit, after we enjoyed their house mesclun salad with balsamic vinaigrette and crusty Italian bread, we feasted on pasta with arugula, diced tomatoes and shrimp in a white wine lemon sauce. It was bliss. As we ate, my husband mentioned that Giada De Laurentiis prepared a similar dish on the Food Network, Linguine with Shrimp and Lemon Oil. I can’t wait to try to this at home, but I plan to substitute dry white wine for half of the olive oil and reduce the number of shrimp. I also may add diced tomatoes to Giada’s recipe to make it more like Fieni’s.
Because we can’t eat out as often as I would like, I often try to replicate certain memorable restaurant entrees at home. Sometimes I’m successful, sometimes less so. Stay tuned and I’ll let you know how this adventure in dining turns out.

Sounds good. I have never heard of that place. Why will you reduce the shrimp? As a personal choice or for health reasons?
Shellfish tends to have a high level of cholesterol, but as I mention in today’s post, because it is low in fat and saturated fat, it can be part of a healthy lifestyle, according the the American Dietetic Association. Thanks for asking!
